We don’t often think about how our mobility helps us with our independence. It enables us to get out and about, go shopping and to undertake a number of everyday tasks such as getting dressed and making ourselves a meal. For those people who have difficulties with their mobility, there is often a need for Mobility Aids like the ones from www.abilitysuperstore.com/ to allow them to retain as much of their independence as possible.

There are a number of ways that you can help support your mobility and these include the mobility support items mentioned above and cover walking sticks and frames as well as wheelchairs and motorised scooters. You can also support your mobility by ensuring that you strengthen your muscles when possible. This could be stretching throughout the day and also undertaking some light weight training.

As well as strengthening your muscles you will need to have good posture and a strong core. Exercise can help with this and many of the exercises can be modified for those who might find high intensity exercise too much. Chair yoga, for example, can help to gently exercise the core muscles as well as the muscles of the upper and lower body.

There are some therapies that can also help support your mobility such as hydrotherapy and physiotherapy. These should always be undertaken by qualified professionals.
