Looking after your teeth properly

When it comes to keeping our teeth and mouth nice and healthy it is probably one of the parts of our morning and evening routine that we end up skimping on. But in order to help prevent the effects of gum disease and a buildup of plaque on the teeth it is important to ensure that you are cleaning your pearly whites at least twice a day. This can help to prevent any fillings and other work from the dentist. Of course accidents still happen and in the event of a tooth being knocked out a Immediate Implant Cardiff company can help you out. No amount of cleaning can help prevent these chance accidents from happening.

Brushing your teeth should take place at least twice a day. You may want to put in a third clean at lunch time if you are eating something with fine seeds that have a tendency to get stuck between your teeth. It is important that you don’t clean your teeth too close to eating a sugary item such as an apple.

The tools to use are very simple, just a toothbrush, some toothpaste and perhaps some dental floss. You should pick a toothbrush that fits comfortably in your mouth and allows you to reach all parts of your mouth and teeth. This should be replaced every three to four months to ensure that the bristles are working to their optimum level. After a few months the shape and condition of the bristles in your toothbrush will start to decline, meaning they are less effective at cleaning your teeth and gums. Your choice of toothpaste will depend on what flavour that you prefer along with whether your dentist has advised that you look for a toothpaste with some whitening agent sin or perhaps one that protects against natural fruit sugars.

To make sure that you are reaching all of the areas of each tooth and the gumline you should hold your brush at a 45 degree angle to your gums and move your toothbrush back and forth and in a circular motion. This is why many people prefer to use an electric toothbrush as it oscillates in a circular motion for you. You should continue this motion over the front part of your teeth as well as the back and tops. At least once a day you should reach for the dental floss and gently clean the spaces between your teeth as this is an area that food tends to become trapped and can cause bacteria to grow.
