When we talk about our health, one of the most important organs, and of greatest concern it is the heart, the engine that keeps us alive.

Caring for them is easier than we think. Heart disease is, however, more and more frequent due to bad habits which, though pleasant, threaten our health.

A disturbance in the heart usually does not appear from one day to the next. It is generally the sum of wrong food choices, an unhealthy lifestyle and the lack of importance given to symptoms.

At the first sign, however, it is important to undergo a specialist examination. The reasons why the heart can begin to be damaged are varied:

  • Unhealthy Eating
  • Lack of exercise
  • Nicotine addiction
  • Lack of rest

1. Male chest or angina pectoris

The chest pain may be caused by different health problems. However, you must pay close attention if it becomes intense and brings a feeling of heaviness and constriction .

When the chest pain is the result of a heart condition, probably the heart is receiving blood with low oxygen content.

2. Arrhythmia

The heart beats normally are regular. The normal condition is that they are not even perceived.

If you feel the heartbeat speeds up, slows down, or presents arrhythmia, call your doctor: it is clear that the heart is not working as it should.

3. Sleep apnea

Sometimes taken lightly, sleep apnea could be a symptom of heart failure.

This dysfunction generates a sudden lack of air during sleep and  can also cause a heart attack, as it does not get enough oxygen to the brain and heart.

Without going to the most serious consequences, sleep apnea must be controlled because it decreases the quality of sleep, you and whoever sleeps next.

4. Legs and feet swollen

They consume a lot of salt habitually? Set been standing more than usual? In both cases it is quite common that the legs and feet  swell a bit, then return to normal.

If, however, the swelling becomes a habitual condition pay attention; It may be due to water retention due to heart failure or arterial.

5. Shortness of breath or lack of oxygen

It is normal to feel constantly out of breath or always tired. If these symptoms often occur for no apparent reason, it is appropriate to ask for a specialist visit.

Of course you have to evaluate the situation if in recent times been subjecting the body to strong physical effort or did you change some of your habits, this lack of air could be justified.

6. Sexual Dysfunction

One of the signs that indicate a possible heart problem is erectile dysfunction, especially in men between 40 and 50 years.

In particular, if you suffer are elderly and in conjunction with other symptoms, it is important that you discuss with your doctor.

Along with the doctor will be able to assess whether the sexual dysfunction is due to the heart or other.

7. The broken heart syndrome

This syndrome causes pain similar or even stronger than that experienced during a heart attack; it is, however, a passenger disorder that can affect people of all healthy.

It can occur without the presence of a history of high, cholesterol, blood pressure, poor diet or sedentary lifestyle.

Often the cause is the stress or profound alteration in mood; in these cases occurs a release of greater amounts of catecholamines, epinephrine and similar substances released by the body in an attempt to return to a normal situation.

It is, fortunately, a temporary discomfort that in 90% of cases does not involve any permanent damage.

A few tips to keep your heart healthy
